Ruth Michalsen’s 'Coloring to Heal: Ruth Hong Art' Exhibition is on Display August 17-Sept. 20

Ruth Michalsen’s art exhibition “Coloring to Heal: Ruth Hong Art” will be on display at the Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery Aug. 17 through Sept. 20. A gallery talk and reception will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.
Through her work as , Michalsen uses art to embrace the present moment and foster healing. Living with a complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), she explores themes of mental health, childhood, kindness and self-compassion. Working across a variety of media, Michalsen often incorporates her own hand-cut photographs to create deeply personal pieces that reflect her lived experiences and invite viewers to connect with their own journeys.
The Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery, located within the Department of Art and Design, hosts a diverse range of exhibitions, including 51ÁÔÆæ student shows, local and regional artist shows, annual high school exhibits, faculty shows, academically based exhibitions, and culturally and religiously based art shows.
