Published: October 1, 2026.
Join 51ÁÔÆæ for a panel presentation: “Local History in the National Context." The free event begins at 12:30 p.m. October 8 in the University Dining Room on the Romeoville campus.
Three history alumni are presenting: Richard Joyce, Lindsey Minas, and Henry Gilson, as part of the William Storie Family Endowed Lecture series.
"This is an excellent chance to hear active research. Joyce will present on the history of nearby Coal City. Minas has worked in the field of 'freedom seekers' and the Underground Railroad in Lockport. Gilson will examine the Historic Preservation movement, using Lockport as a case study. All of these are local themes, but have implications for the nation," said Dr. Dennis H. Cremin, History Department Chair.
The event will also celebrate Bill Storie, who passed away on June 26, 2026. His passion for history partially lives on through the William Storie (’69) and Family Endowed Lecture Series. We will have a reception with light refreshments following the program. This lecture is free and open to the public.
